Digital platform for the optimization of Altadis’ human resources

Creation of a platform with the aim of digitizing the promotion process within the company.

The challenge

Altadis wanted to optimize the human resources dedicated to promotion that operated on the national network of 13,000 tobacconists in Spain. The organization of the promoters was the responsibility of the commercial force.

The planning and supervision of the promoters caused coordination problems. The company made the decision to digitize this process to avoid problems and improve the optimization of resources.

The Methodology

A consulting team organized a series of workshops and meetings with the tobacco company’s staff to learn in depth about the operation of the sales force and the promotion activity at the point of sale. The objective was to create a new user experience that would make the planning and control of promotion activities more efficient.

In this first stage, the company’s internal applications were also analyzed to design the necessary integrations and develop the technical design of the new platform.

The Solution

We processed the information we obtained in the user experience workshops and created a prototype of the application. This prototype was validated by the sales force and the responsible managers. The prototype made it possible to know how the application would work without the need for programming.

A team of two frontend programmers developed the platform and its optimization algorithm. The algorithm took into account the history and characteristics of the promoters to assign the best promoter at each point of sale. This algorithm streamlined the planning work, overcoming the previous coordination problems.
